Dewise ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It applies to our website (dewiseapp.com) and, when launched, our iOS application (collectively, the "Service").

By using the Service, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

  • Waitlist & account registration — email address, and optionally your name.
  • Device data — device name, category, purchase price, purchase date, warranty period, and condition. This data is entered voluntarily by you to use the core features of the app.
  • Support inquiries — any information you include when contacting us.
  • 2.2 Automatically Collected Information

  • Usage data — pages visited, features used, session duration, and interactions within the Service.
  • Device & technical data — browser type, operating system, IP address (truncated), and referring URL, collected via standard web server logs and analytics tools.
  • Cookies & similar technologies — we use strictly necessary cookies for session management, and optional analytics cookies. You can opt out of analytics cookies at any time.
  • 2.3 Information We Do Not Collect

    We do not collect payment card numbers, government-issued IDs, or sensitive personal data such as health or biometric information. We do not sell your personal information to third parties — ever.

    3. How We Use Your Information

    We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide and improve the Service — power core features such as warranty tracking, resale value estimates, and AI upgrade recommendations.
  • Communicate with you — send waitlist updates, product announcements, and respond to support requests. You may opt out of marketing emails at any time via the unsubscribe link in any email.
  • Analyse and improve — understand how users interact with the Service and identify areas for improvement.
  • Ensure security — detect and prevent fraud, abuse, or unauthorised access.
  • Comply with legal obligations — retain records where required by applicable law.
  • We process your data on the following legal bases (where GDPR applies): performance of a contract, legitimate interests, compliance with legal obligations, and — for optional communications — your consent.

    4. Data Sharing & Third Parties

    We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may share data only in the following limited circumstances:

  • Service providers — trusted vendors who help us operate the Service (e.g. cloud hosting, analytics, email delivery). We do not pass individual user data to these providers — they receive only the technical information needed to deliver their service (e.g. anonymised usage metrics, server logs). They are contractually bound to process data only on our behalf and in accordance with this policy.
  • AI & recommendation features — device data you enter may be sent to AI model providers to generate upgrade recommendations. No personally identifiable information (e.g. your email) is included in these requests.
  • Legal requirements — we may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of Dewise, our users, or the public.
  • Business transfers — in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your data may be transferred. We will notify you before your data becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
  • 5. Data Retention

    We retain your personal information only for as long as necessary to provide the Service and fulfil the purposes described in this policy, or as required by law.

  • Waitlist data — retained until the waitlist closes or you request removal.
  • Account data — retained for the lifetime of your account, plus up to 90 days after deletion to allow for account recovery.
  • Usage and analytics data — retained in aggregated or anonymised form for up to 24 months.
  • You may request deletion of your data at any time (see Section 7).

    6. Security

    We implement industry-standard technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit (TLS), access controls, and regular security reviews.

    No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security. In the event of a data breach that affects your rights or freedoms, we will notify you as required by applicable law.

    7. Your Rights & Choices

    Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you.
  • Correction — request that inaccurate or incomplete data be corrected.
  • Deletion — request that we delete your personal data ("right to be forgotten").
  • Portability — request your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
  • Objection / Restriction — object to or request restriction of certain processing activities.
  • Withdraw consent — where processing is based on consent, withdraw it at any time without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing.
  • California residents (CCPA) — you have the right to know what personal information is collected, to opt out of sale (we do not sell data), and to non-discrimination for exercising your rights.

    8. Children's Privacy

    The Service is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

    9. International Data Transfers

    Dewise operates globally. Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own, including countries that may not provide the same level of data protection as your home country. Where we transfer data internationally, we implement appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) to ensure your data remains protected.

    10. Changes to This Policy

    We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Effective Date" at the top of this page. For material changes, we will provide prominent notice (e.g. via email or an in-app notification). Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
